America’s Army: Proving Grounds
America’s Army: Proving Grounds, the official game of the United States Army. Ahem. The official game of the United States Army. Official game of the United States Army.Official game of the United States Army. Is out of beta as of thefirst of October.
Proving Groundsreleased (for free) on Steam two years ago in August of 2013. TheAmerica’s Armyserieshas been around since 2002.

There’s also anAmerica’s Armycomic series that goes intoProving Grounds‘ story, conveniently set in the fictional nation of Czervenia, as opposed to one of the many real-life nations America’s army currently has troops deployed. Czervenia is governed by evil President-General Adzic. The “experimental combat teams” the story focuses on (so it takes cues from richly nuancedCall of Dutyor Japanese RPG style, “you’re the only one/ones who can save the world” story-telling) must, discover the general’s “insidious plot before time runs out.”
These are official works of fiction created by the United States Army. Video games and comic books. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Sometimes this kind of work is referred to as “propaganda” what might be intentionally targeting children/youths much like the dreaded tobacco industry (also, ignored, the alcohol industry).

Seriously, it’s not weird that the United States Army is writing government-funded United States Army fucking fan-fiction? What a fucking world we live in.
