Not a kazoo in sight
WhenYoshi’s New Islandwas released more than four years ago, one of the most common complaints that reviewers and players had was in regards to the soundtrack. In particular, the heavy usage of kazoos for almost every single track. Luckily for everyone, the new arrangement of the main theme that will be included inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatedoes not feature a single one.
You can listen to the upbeat arrangement below.
The new arrangement was worked on by Shota Kageyama, who is no stranger to working on the soundtracks for theSuper Smash Bros.franchise. His first role with Nintendo was contributing four arrangements toSuper Smash Bros. Brawl. Afterwards, he worked with Game Freak and was part of the music team on variousPokémongames fromHeartGold/SoulSilvertoOmega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, as well as contributing toSuper Smash Bros. 4. Shota left afterwards to become a freelance composer, however he has worked on music forPokkén Tournamentas well as the upcomingLet’s Go, PikachuandLet’s Go, Eevee.
Another fun fact is that this isn’t the first time Shota has done a new arrangement for a song from theYoshifranchise. One of the pieces he contributed forBrawlwas “Obstacle Course,” a track from the firstYoshi’s Islandgame. You can check it out below.
