I woke up this morning to the strangest “leak” news I’ve heard in a while, with reports of a secret Nintendo event hosting mock-ups of Switch 2 presentations and a reported Zelda 2025 placeholder on so many pictures.

These pictures and videos have, of course, been taken down by Nintendo Ninjas overnight. But that hasn’t stopped many content creators and publications talking about them (I guess now I’m included in that) spewing rumors of an unannouncedZeldagame coming this year that Nintendo is ‘going to show off at Summer Game Fest’ among other clickbait titles.

And as I sat there scrolling through everything, I had to wonder—did everyone forget aboutHyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment?

That’s the bigZeldatitle coming in 2025, and it was announced during the Switch 2 presentation event. It’s set as a prequel toZelda: Tears of the Kingdomand is likely the bigZelda2025 title that the event mentioned. It’s no surprise most folks hadn’t talked about it; the only people who seem to be talking about it are the ones who have apparently forgotten the game’s existence.

Are we really stretched for content at the moment, where we are forgetting games on purpose in hopes of driving clicks? I get a lot of people don’t remember every game coming out, but come on now.

Now, what is interesting to come out of this is conversationson Reddit threadsthat have likened the leaked text toEchoes of Wisdomtext font, with some speculating thatEchoescould get a Switch 2 expansion or extra content akin toMario Party Jambooree, and I don’t dispute that idea. But a newZeldagame that isn’tAge of Imprisonment? I find the chances very unlikely.

I’ll tell you what! If a newZeldagame releases by the end of the year that isn’t a remake, DLC, or remaster (or heck,Zelda: Wind Wakeron Gamecube virtual console could even count as Zelda 2025 at this rate),I will eat my Tunic. You can hold me to that, Destructoid.
