Sega Nerds is reporting that Sega Studios, formerly known as Secret Level Studios, will be shut down today. The San Francisco studio was responsible for titles such asGolden Axe: Beast Rider,Iron Manand the upcomingIron Man 2game. No specifics are given but it’s easy to guess why with the studio’s track record.

We’ve reached out to our own contacts at Sega who confirm of the studio’s closer. To clarify, this is just the development studio that is shutting down. Sega of America is still up and kicking in San Francisco.

As for their last project, we just brought you apreview ofIron Man 2and the movie tie-in is still scheduled for release next month. It’s always a shame when a studio closes and we wish the best of luck to everyone on the job hunt.
