Pancakes
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versusis set to release next week in Japan and I’m still not entirely sure what to make of the game. On the one hand it looks like afun little brawlerwhere you can attack your enemies withgiant stacks of pancakes, on the other it really pushes the envelope when it comes to fanservice. Some aspects of it are just amusingly bizarre. Take, for example, the competitive multiplayer mode where players are tasked with the odd jobcollecting panties as they fall the heavens. Sure, it’s a little naughty, but it’s equally hilarious and absurd.
Then there’s the more vexatious gallery mode, which players can use to play dress-up with the title’s heroines. That’s all well and good, I guess. Then the PlayStation Vita’s touchscreen starts being used to poke off the teenage ninjas’ clothing and things get really uncomfortable. No, it doesn’t just remove them and let you look at the girls in bikinis, they react and appear to be very distressed about the whole ordeal.Shinovi Versusstill looks like a good time, but I’ll be sure to steer clear of that facet of the game if it ever manages to get localized.
