‘We do not believe there are anymore serious risks to affected players or their machines.’
Respawn Entertainment has been investigating a security exploit in theTitanfall 2community that quickly picked up steam. Users yesterday were warning that a new exploit could open dangerous vulnerabilities in players’ computers, but the studio is quelling those concerns.
The kickoff happened when aDiscord post from user DirectXeonstarted to spread around social media, saying “Titanfall 2is currently considered compromised.” The post warned users to refrain from launching the game and uninstall it, as reports of a bug in the game that allowed “local code execution” were coming in.
An Update: We’re still investigating this issue but our engineers believe that we’re dealing with a simple exploit that can be used to crash games.

Respawn posted yesterday evening that it was aware of reports of a security vulnerability affectingTitanfall 2and were investigating. Later on in the day, it issued an update:
“An Update: We’re still investigating this issue but our engineers believe that we’re dealing with a simple exploit that can be used to crash games. We do not believe there are any more serious risks to affected players or their machines.”
This isn’t the first timeTitanfall 2has run into some issues. Earlier this year,Apex Legendswas shut down by hackers campaigning to “save”Titanfall, which ended up apparently being a scheme involving the resurrection ofTitanfall Online. It was wild stuff, and you canfind a summary of it here.
Titanfallfans have tried to draw notice toissues the games have had over the years. Though it sounds like the issue may hopefully be less severe than first thought, it’s still a rough time for a game that some still hold dear to their hearts.
