Project Luminaannouncedthat the final launch character for upcoming fighterMelty Blood: Type Luminawill be Red Arcueid. The developer dropped new videos revealing the sinister gal and showcasing her in battle with Kouma Kishima.
As theMelty Bloodfaithful will be aware, Red Arcueid is the shadowy, antagonistic variant of hero Arcueid Brunestud, and has been featured in numerous entries in the cult fighting game franchise.Type Lumina— a direct adaptation of the recent visual novelTsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon— sees the Melty Blood franchise receive its first full overhaul in a decade, having been rebuilt in a brand new engine to fully revitalize each and every aspect of the in-game action.
Of course, this fresh start comes at something of a cost — the price being thatType Luminafeatures a much smaller roster thanMelty Bloodfans might be used to. But with a full story mode, new HD visuals, beginner modes and mechanics, and what looks to be the electrifying fast-paced combat that is the series’ trademark, it’s definitely a better decision in the long term to refresh the franchise for gaming’s newest generation, while hopefully pulling in new players along the way.
