3D entertainment was all the rage in the nineties, and it gave rise to some shamelessly obvious 3D movies likeFreddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, where things needlessly flew at the screen in an embarrassingly contrived manner. If you want to relive those memories of blatant gimmickry, know that Sonyis working onmaking it happen by 2009.

According to Neil Schneider, CEO of “3D advocacy group” Meant to be Seen, Sony “fully intends” on integrating stereoscopic 3D visuals into its games and Blu-ray movies over the course of the next year. Apparently it’s simple.

“The best part is console support will only need a bios upgrade to work,” Schneider suggests. “We are told that the ability to add this capability via bios may be unique to Sony PS3 versus the other console solutions.”

Sony should add 3D toHome. I’d like to see what utter, desolate, crushing nothingness looks like in the third dimension.
