Aw! Sony, would it make you feel better if we told you that we appreciate the price drop on the PS3? No?
The financial reports for the second quarter showed a loss in profits, and Sony blames their August PS3 price drop to $249 for that.Gamasutrasays that there was a significant loss in profits for its Consumer Products & Services, and the PlayStation family of products fall under this category. On top of that, the game business in general was also down for the quarter. Revenue was down 12.3 percent, and it’s all your fault demanding gamer/competition.

That said, more PS3 systems were sold. In this quarter 3.7 million PS3 systems were sold, compared with 3.5 million in the same quarter last year. Software for the PS3 was also up to 37.4 million, compared to 35.4 million last year. Yay?
