Every day at 1am CT,Pokémon TCG Pocketresets its daily Poké Gold usage limit, where you can spend a total of 720 Poké Gold on opening packs and other activities before the game locks you from using any more.

you’re able to still buy more Poké Gold in-game and store as much as you want, but the game stops you from using any of it. You can sit on thousands of Poké Gold (up to 3,200), but once you hit that 720 Poké Gold cap. That’s it. No more opening packs, no matter how badly you want to try and complete a set, until tomorrow, unless you have Hourglasses to use instead.

So effectively, you are locked to 120 packs through Poké Gold a day. This has sparked a lot of debate over whether Pokémon should remove the limit for those willing to spend money, or keep it for obvious (somewhat predatory) reasons when gambling on packs.

On one hand, the Poké Gold prevents people with legitimate addictions from spending all their money on virtual cards, as well as children who might get access to their parents’ credit cards and blow thousands on virtual Pokémon cards. It exists as a fail-safe, and the limit can be considered a good thing to stop people from overspending their money.

I’ve personally stopped myself from spending a lot of money on a new expansion launch due to the usage limit. Without it, I’d probably keep going until I got the card I wanted from the set. Or until I was able to craft it after opening enough packs.

But on the other hand, there are those (exceptionally competitive players) who need to find a card from the set for a deck to run through ranked, and with trading not being a viable option for the new set, some might need to keep opening packs until they get everything they need if they aren’t luckly enough to say, find a Trainer card or an ex they need later down the line.

There are a lot of arguments for and against removing the usage limit, but what do you think? Should it stay? Or go?
