Sit in the driver’s seat Even though I was rarely good at them, one of the great joys of going to the arcade back in the ’90s was taking a seat in one of the many racing games and putting the pedal to the metal. Games likeCrusin’ USA,Daytona USA, andHydro Thunderdevoured many of my quarters on these trips. I would have unloaded many more intoOutRun, but sadly, my local arcade only had the upright version of the cabinet....

I see waggle! Remember all those Wii commercials where families would get together and waggle their hearts out? Well it appears as if Nintendo is at it again with thisWii Party Ucommercial, but now you can use the GamePad while you waggle — innovation! Joking aside, this newWii Party Utrailer shows off atonof features, and reveals that there are over 65 minigames to tackle. Interestingly enough, the game seems to only be packacked with a Wiimote at retail and the digital version reportedly clocks in at over 5GB, so if you have a standard Wii U you should be prepared to get an external harddrive....

The king stay the king Twitch.tv, the streaming and social platform popular among video game fans, inked a multi-year deal with Chess.com. The partnership is part of a push to promote both chess streams and major events. It might sound a bit silly at first, but chess is probably the only good, pure game. It’s fascinating to watch and playing chess falls somewhere betweenPUBG‘s final circle and asking an attractive human out on the “very stressful things” scale....

Digital segment grew too Ubisoft set lofty predictions for its 2014 fiscal year first-quarter performance, and then it blew right by them. Cryptic Studios doesn’t have to sleep alone anymore. Today Atari announced that it has acquired the MMO developer responsible forCity of Heroes,Champions Onlineand theStar Trek MMO. Atari will be inheriting all of those titles, strengthening an already rock solid portfolio with a dash of MMO tastiness. Champions Onlineis slated for a 2009 release on the Xbox 360 and PC. It is definitely one of the more anticipated MMOs on a console in recent memory for a reason – it appearsto be good....

I’ve never looked at a trailer that was almost entirely footage of a dude walking slowly across the screen and thought “Wow, that looks rad!” before, but hey, there’s a first time for everything. MeetBannerman, a side-scrolling hack-and-slash by one-man developer Armitage Games. The game focuses on “brutal… skill-based melee combat” in a medieval world, which is another way of saying ‘Souls-ish’.It’s difficult to judge whether the combat will be good from a few brief scenes in a trailer, so instead, just enjoy how bloody good it all looks!...
