No Wave is a point-and-click game set in NY’s music scene

Sonic Youth and Swans on the soundtrack? Win! Aside from videogames, music is my other big passion in life, whether it’s just listening to it, going to gigs or reading about various bands or periods in music history. So when I got a message from the developers ofNo Wave, a short point-and-click adventure set in New York music scene of the very early 1980s, I was immediately intrigued. A game with early Sonic Youth, Swans, and The Boys Next Door on the soundtrack?...

Palworld has ditched creature summoning from spheres to avoid the wrath of Pokemon

Pocket Pair has released an update for the popular creature-catching gamePalworldthat removes the ability to summon pals by throwing Pal Spheres on the ground. Creatures will now summon automatically next to the player when a summoning ball is activated. Although the game maker has not issued a statement regarding the changes, it seems highly likely that the move was taken as a result of the ongoing patent legal battle with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company....

Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s Japanese box art is appropriately groovy

I’d expect nothing less Persona 4: Dancing All Nightis still slated for a Western release in 2015, but it’s headed for Japanese Vita owners on June 25. I’m eagerly gobbling up every single scrap Atlus tosses out until the official release, so checking out the box art for the Japanese version has been a real treat, especially since it’s just as colorful and busy as I had hoped. This is just the standard edition’s art, so it remains to be seen what the Crazy Value or Premium Crazy Box editions will look like, but I’m happy with this cover as-is....

Pokemon Sword and Shield will aggressively market Switch Online subscriptions in-game

I noticed you didn’t pay for online Nintendo has always been searching for a way to solve the “getting kids to pay for online” problem in thePokemonseries, and they found their answer with thePokemon Bankapp. For a few “measly” clams (oysters?) a year kids could pony up and store their creatures online, but now they have to submit to a higher authority: Switch Online. About that, a new message has appeared at the very bottom of the newPokemon Sword & Shieldsite that has people buzzing: “Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for some online features....

Star Wars Battlefront II unlocks all heroes, villains, and their ships

A pleasant surprise Today’s update forStar Wars Battlefront IIis the big one. It’s the one thatoverhauls how progression worksin multiplayer (gameplay-affecting Star Cards are unlocked through gameplay) and alters loot crates so that they only contain cosmetic items like emotes. But there are some surprises, too. All of the game’s current heroes and villains — and their individual ships — have been unlocked. You can save your credits. “With all characters now having a Unit Level, we don’t want to limit anyone’s chance to progress as we change the way you interact with these characters,” the development team said....

Take-Two CEO bites back against violent video game rhetoric in GTA interview

During a recent interview meant to answer questions aboutGrand Theft Auto 6, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO delivered a scathing rebuke to the enduring opinion that video games might inspire their players to commit violent acts. As one of the “video gamers” mainstream media seems to fear, I found his bluntness refreshing. Strauss Zelnick is confident GTA 6 won’t drive people to commit copy-cat crimes As part of the hype for the upcoming release ofGTA 6, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick sat down for an interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box program (the interview’s paywalled, so I’m getting a lot of my information fromVideoGamer, who covered it) The discussion touched on a few interesting subjects, including how the company has dealt withthe new administration’s tariffs on overseas importsand the publisher’s stance on using artificial intelligence in game design....
