‘Video games do not hurt anybody’ Someone is finally speaking some sense. Following the Australian Classification Board’sbanning ofOutlast II, Senator David Leyonhjelm blasted the Australian Senate regarding video game censorship. Leyonhjelm argues the laws related to games are made and enforced by people who know nothing about them. Leyonhjelm reveals politicians and public officials are blocked from sites like IGN and PC Gamer “because we might stumble across an image of something somebody disapproves of from a medium we don’t understand....

It’s a lotta work! I really miss the days whenHeroes of the Stormwas more active than pretty much any other MOBA. The team has always killed it, giving it their all when developing content of any kind, and they’re still killing it, even with a smaller scope due to Blizzard’s cutbacks. But it’s a real treat when we get a peek inside the window every now and then and see how the sausage is made: like the recent breakdown of the newOverwatchskins....

Discs are getting made It’d be underselling the situation to say thatThe Last of Us Part IIhas had some setbacks during development. It was internally delayed about this time last year. Then, once it had a release date for February 2020, it was pushed back to May. The final delay came because of COVID-19 which made it impossible for Sony to manufacture physical copies for retail. Oh yeah,then some jackass spoiled the entire game....

It takes place in a haunted version of the Korok Forest Famous modder Waikuteru is at it again, this time with aZelda: Breath of the WildHalloween“DLC” modthat injects some spookiness into the mix, and adds a new questline and major enemy. It all starts with a quest called “The Halloween Hunt,” which is picked up in the Korok Forest. Apparently the residing Koroks are “in distress,” and it’s up to you to solve the mystery of the haunted zone and square off against a new foe called the Ghost Rider....

That’s a lot of tapping Pokemon Go‘s raidsare bringing people back into the game, uniting players with a common goal — to catch Legendaries. Lugia and Articuno already dropped and Moltres is live this week, and anyone who defeats them with a team has a chance to capture them. But one duo in Japan decided to do it differently — instead of contracting out a team, they just beat Moltres by themselves....

It deserves the comeback Back in 2014 I covered a game from Grumpyface Studios calledCastle Doombad. I’m already a sucker for projects featuring traps as the core mechanic, butDoombadwas sleek, cute, and a blast to play in short bursts or long sessions. Sadly, like many mobile games of that era (particularly under the Adult Swim banner), it was eventually put out to pasture. Given that it’s miraculously coming back this year on Steam (self-published by Grumpyface no less), it’ll likely have a longer shelf life....

The curse of 0-2 beckons… VSFighting, perhaps the UK’s most prestigious fighting game tournament, will make its grand return this week for the first time in three years. Players from across the UK, Europe, and wider international communities will gather together once again in a bid to lay claim to bragging rights in some of today’s (and even some of yesterday’s) hottest scrappers. The annual throwdown, which has run yearly since its inception in 2010, has been on hiatus since 2019 — impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its related lockdown rulings....

Not a We Are Marshal sequel I respectWe Are Chicago. It’s a game that applies the Telltale choice-based model to low-income families living on the South Side of Chicago. The script was penned by a high school guidance counselor who spent his life in neighborhoods just like the ones depicted in the game. It affords a level of humanity and honesty to a demographic video games often forget. A portion of the game’s revenue ends in the hands of crucial non-profits....
