Digital game sales are cool. You know, that fairly basic industry practice that Valve, Sony, and Microsoft have been doing for years? Well it looks like Nintendois going to join in on the fun, and offer a weekly sale on “select games” on the eShop — just like theyrecently had withMario Land, this is presumably a “one game a week” type of deal.
In the short-term, the only problem I see with this is that Nintendo isn’t exactly transparent when it comes to telling people about special offers. Club Nintendoupdates their offerings monthly, and through an internal press release we get the weeklyNintendo downloads. It’ssomething, but not as transparent asSteam’s giant sale pages(andthis gem), Sony’sfrequently updated PSN blog, orMajor Nelson’sannouncements.
Half of me thinks that they’ll discount relevant games, bring this system to the Wii U, and it will be awesome. Half of me thinks they will discount utter garbage for a few months, and then completely abandon this pet project.Prove me wrong Nintendo, prove me wrong!
