AsNinja Gaiden IIIramps up to rock our brains, producer Yosuke Hayashi is already starting the flame wars, calling rival action gameBayonetta“old” and comparing it to the “outdated”Ninja Gaiden II.

“I thinkNinja Gaiden IIis already outdated,” Hayashi explained. “That’s why we are makingNinja Gaiden IIIfrom scratch … Bayonetta has some good stuff but Bayonetta is old, game design wise, already.”

The producer added that Team Ninja “doesn’t care” about trying to maintain the franchise’s signature difficulty levels, adding: “Difficulty level is not the main element we are focusing on. The focus we have is that a new Ryu Hayabusa is the main character forNinja Gaiden III. Also, we are aiming to be the number one 3D action game. If we can do that we are fine not focusing on difficulty level. We don’t care. But to prevent misunderstanding,Ninja Gaidenfans will still really love it. That is our responsibility. We verify the fans of the series are satisfied by our game.”

Well, there ya go!Bayonettais old fashioned andNinja Gaiden III‘s difficulty level is not a crucial aspect. Two somewhat controversial statements, but what do you reckon?
