From the very onset of its announcement,Destiny 2: Into the Lightfelt just a tad too good to be true. Anew social space, the much-toutedboss rush mode, afan-favourite all-black Shader, awesome guns… With the latest TWID, then, Bungie confirmed that much of this is temporary.

More specifically, Bungie has clarified that a fairly substantial portion ofDestiny 2: Into the Lightwill leave the game with the release ofThe Final ShapeDLC early in June. According to what we now know, everythingincluded as part ofInto the Lightwill be effectively sunset on June 4, with only the baseline Brave weapons — not theholo-foil ones, mind — and the Onslaught activity itself sticking around for Year 10. Bummer.

Whilethiswashighlightedon the officialInto the Lightrelease schedule, Bungie hadn’t chimed in to confirm the specifics of what was staying and what would be taken out of the game untilthis week’s TWID blog post, which is bound to disappoint many Guardians.

Destiny 2: Into the Light won’t be around permanently after all

In other words, we now know for a fact that all of the following content will leaveDestiny 2on June 3:

InThe Final Shape, the Onslaught activityitself will be relegated to a dedicated activity node in the Vanguard Operations sub-menu, with Brave weapons dropping at random upon completing a match of Onslaught. TheWeapon Attunement feature, too, will thankfully return sometime down the line as part of a post-Final ShapeEchoes content release.

It goes without saying that this is less than ideal. Arguably, the most important bits ofInto the Lightare sticking around (i.e. the guns and Onslaught itself), but the loss of Pantheon will be the biggest problem. “As is the case with Moments of Triumph, these titles are meant to commemorate a unique moment of time and show others players your accomplishments during Destiny 2: Into the Light,” says the TWID. “When you see these in the future, you’ll know these are the Guardians that stood tall as we prepared to battle the Witness.” Whether that’s a good excuse to sunset a feature that many are eagerly awaiting, I do not know, butthe community isn’t thrilledwith this clarification.

Considering the comparison with Moment of Triumph, it’spossiblethat Pantheon may end up being a rotating annual activity instead of being a one-off, but it’s odd to see Bungie choosing not to clarify this bit, in particular. Whatever the case may be, this does sour things a tad, which is sad to see afterBungie managed to turn things aroundover the past couple of months.

With all of that in mind, make sure that you’ve farmed out the Parade armour sets, the Superblack Shader, and all the holo-foils you may get your hands on before they’ve all been eaten up by the FOMO monster. This isDestinywe’re talking about, after all.
