Behind-the-scenes video translated

Few trailers rival the“Nuclear” videoforMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I must’ve watched it half a dozen times when it debuted last year at E3, and probably doubled that number leading up to the game’s release in September. What a masterful pairing of music and imagery.

That line sparked my imagination. I obsessively pieced together the clues, themes, and fan speculation to form my own narrative forThe Phantom Pain. It was such a fun mental exercise.

It’s strange to look back on this footage now. Some of the scenes didn’t even make it into the game, while others occur far later than originally expected. It’s also surprising how many story beats are shown here (albeit without full context to know what, exactly, they mean).
