It’s a move that seem destined to happen eventually.Minecraftlead developer Markus Persson has, for many of us, become the face behind the absurdly successful game — but it’s time to transition into a new position at Mojang. “Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer,”writes Perssonon his blog.

“We’ve been working together onMinecraftfor a year now, and I’m amazed at how much in synch we two are when it comes to how to design the game. And when we don’t agree, we discuss it and something much better comes out at a result. He’s truly a great person to work with, and I feel very confident handing over the leadership ofMinecraftto him.”

While still helping with the game, Persson will now be “starting work on some new project.”
