Ubisoft has high hopes forAssassin’s Creed 2, and given the illogical success of the first game, who can blame them? The stab-happy sequel is expected to surpass 9 million sales, and Ubisoft is certain that a geographical ace up its sleevewill seal the deal.

“Why? Because of Italy,” claims development boss Patrice Désilets. “Italy has something, really. I’ve met a bunch of people, and Italy has something. Italy is one of the most visited places in the world, and there’s a reason for that. Being able to visit Florence, or visit Venice and Tuscany, is something that people will be attracted by.

“And it’s a sequel, and [there’s been] good press on it, so I think we’re going to outsell [the original]. My producer and I were joking that we’re going to sell, like, 725 million copies of it,”

May be a bit ambitious there, but you’ve got to dream a dream. We’ll find out just how wellAC2does when it launches on November 20, won’t we?
