Kickstarter RPG is set in 1920s Massachusetts

I’ll admit that I often look at a game’s setting and world before I start caring about mechanics; if your game takes place in an interesting time period or uniquely fantastical world, then that’s far more likely to get my interest.Witchmarshis an action-RPG that takes place in Massachusetts in the 1920s; players will control a group of characters investigating a series of mysterious kidnappings.

Witchmarshis currently being worked on by just two developers but there’s already a great-looking pixel art style in place, which you may see on the duo’sdevelopment blog. Speaking toIndie Statik, lead writer and designer Lou Sgarbi said that the real-time combat system would be influenced by the likes ofDiabloandDark Soulsand that the game will be structured like semi-linear RPGs such asBaldur’s Gate. Sounds pretty good to me. Whilst there’s no release date yet,Witchmarshwill launch a Kickstarter in January 2014, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
