Did you know theElder Scroll 4 Oblivion Remasteredhas weapon and armor durability? Not only that, but the original also has this feature. It depletes quickly, too, causing your gear to decrease in overall effectiveness. Fortunately, it’s just as easy to repair items once you learn how to.
At first, you won’t have any ways to repair armor and weapons inOblivion Remastered. As you progress through the tutorial and make your way to your first town, you’ll unlock several methods to fix your gear, making it much easier to keep everything in pristine shape.

How to repair items in Elder Scroll 4 Oblivion Remastered
Oblivion Remasteredoffers two ways to repair weapons and armor:
If you want to save money, you may findRepair Hammersaround the world that you can pick up and use to fix your gear. Alternatively, if you don’t mind spending some cash, you can visit any city’sblacksmith or armor merchantand pay them to do it for you.

How to use a Repair Hammer
Your first option is exploring Cyrodiil until you find Repair Hammers. You’ll mainly find them inside chests and as loot from fallen foes, but you can also purchase them from merchants.
Once you acquire a Repair Hammer, use it while it’s in your inventory to create a Repair menu. Here, you may select the armor piece or weapon you want to fix. If you succeed, you’ll raise the item’s durability without breaking your hammer. Otherwise, its durability will still go up, but you’ll lose the hammer in the process, requiring you to use another if you want to make additional repairs.

Your success rate and the item types you can repair depend entirely on yourArmorerskill. Alongside a general passive buff of lowering the odds of your hammer breaking, you’ll also gain the following benefits:
While new characters who lack proficiency in armor repairs will often break their hammers, masters in this craft can use one for the remainder of their playthrough. Similarly, while the normal maximum durability is 100, a level 75 Expert Armorer can raise it to 125 durability, improving your weapon’s damage or armor’s shielding stats.

How to use Blacksmiths and merchants
If you don’t want to invest much time or effort into finding Repair Hammers or run out midway through your repairs, you can visit any blacksmith or armor merchant to get them to do it for you. Most heavy armor, weapon, and blacksmith shop owners will do the job, with some early game examples including Urbul gro-Orkulg at the Imperial City’s Slack ‘N Smash, the two merchants in The Best Defense, and Rasheda over in Chorrol’s Fire and Steel.
Rather than using Repair Hammers, these merchants charge coins for repairing your gear. This increases your durability to 100 percent, and the exact price is determined by the item’s current durability.

What does durability do in Elder Scroll 4 Oblivion Remastered?
Durability directly affects your weapon’s damage and armor’s shield rating inOblivion Remastered. As your durability decreases, your damage and armor rating will also drop, making it much harder to survive in battles. In contrast, raising your durability will return your damage and armor values to their usual numbers. Reaching Master Armorer lets you increase durability beyond 100, raising your gear’s stats.
