Star Ocean: The Second Story Radds a Unique Spot system to the original version, and these sometimes-hidden locations reward items, experience, and other goodies upon discovery. There are 36 Unique Spots in total, with a few easy to miss along the journey.

We’ve got a guide below for how to find all of the Unique Spots inStar Ocean: The Second Story R.Please note location #8 is marked as possibly missable, while #30 is missable. If you happen to miss one of the Unique Spots and plan to replay on New Game+, the data will carry over regardless of your choice between Rena or Claude.

At the top of Lagus Mountain, take the left-most path.Reward:(3) The Bestiary, 500 EXP
7. Jade Green Columns
Inside Krosse Caves, just beyond the second save point near several chests.Reward:(3) Green Beryl, 500 EXP
8. Old Lighthouse – Possibly Missable
In Kurik, up the hill beside the weapon shop to the east. It is unconfirmed if this Unique Spot remains after story events.Reward:
9. Monument of Truth
In Marze, to the left of the item shop.Reward:(3) Witch Powder, 500 EXP
10. The Emporer of Fish
In Harley, shortly after the entrance along the boardwalk near the inn.Reward:(5) Fishy Fragrance, 500 EXP
11. Hilton’s Open-Air Market
Walk in the middle of Hilton’s row of shops; it’s across from the weapons NPC.Reward:(3) Cinderella Glass, 500 EXP
13. Lacuer Academy
Head all the way north in Linga, in front of the biggest building.Reward:(2) Pocket Encyclopedia, (2) All About Herbs, 500 EXP
14. Gift from the Sky
West of Hilton on the world map, in a crater amongst some mountains.Reward:(1) Meteor Ring+, 1,000 EXP
15. A Grand Burial Ground
In the northern half of the Sacred Grounds of Linga, near giant bones.Reward:(5) Goddess Statuette, 1,000 EXP
16. The Glint of Hidden Power
Inside the Hoffman Mines, a little way down the right path.Reward:(1) Light Cross+, 1,000 EXP
17. The Lacuer Hope Weapon
At Lacuer’s Front Line Base, take the westernmost path until spotting the giant weapon.Reward:X Clip+, 1,000 EXP
18. The Claw Marks of Calamity
On the northwestern continent of Expel’s World Map, right along the beach near the sunken city of Tenue.Reward:(1) Moonlight, 1,000 EXP
19. Where the Monsters Rule
Shortly after entering Eluria Tower, this point is visible from the stairs.Reward:(1) The Scream, 1,000 EXP
20. Sunlight in the Snow
Take the Mountainside path in the Field of Might; it’s all the way north.Reward:(1) Hot Syrup Max, 20,000 EXP
21. Pyramid amidst the Sands
This one is on the southwestern continent of Expel’s World Map. It’s a little hard to spot the yellow glow through the sand, but keep walking toward the large pyramid.Reward:100 SP, 100 BP, 20,000 EXP
22. Ruins in the Desert
On the Expel World Map, to the west of Lasgus Mountains, among broken buildings. Another that’s particularly hard to spot the yellow glow from.Reward:(1) Twin Splicers+, 1,000 EXP
23. A Coral Paradise
Another on Expel’s World map, directly south of Krosse Cave. It’s on the opposite side of the beach.Reward:Blue Talisman+, 500 EXP
24. Otherworldly Garden
In The Centropolis of Nede, go back to City Hall’s top floor and into Nall’s office. Take the teleporter to the Outer Gardens; the Unique Spot is down the hill, not far from the entrance.Reward:(5) Revival Card, 10,000 EXP
25. A Relaxing Aquarium
Inside of L’Aqua, seems only to be available after the story takes the party to Fun City.Reward:(1) Aqua Ring+, 10,000 EXP
26. The City of Weaponsmiths
In front of a patch of grass, immediately visible upon entering Armlock.Reward:(2) Meteorite, (2) Mithril, 10,000 EXP
27. Nedepedia
Take the upper left path in North City; the spot is at the entrance.Reward:(3) Engineer’s Handbook, (3) Operation Manual, (3) Hermetic Philosophy, 10,000 EXP
28. Crimson Prisms
Inside the Cave of Crimson Crystals, take the first path straight, then go right along a path that curves underneath the first. The crystals are near two chests.Reward:(5) Rainbow Diamond, 10,000 EXP
29. The Big White Neighbor
At the Princebridge entrance, immediately to the left by a snowman.Reward:(5) Cream Stew, 10,000 EXP
30. Space-Time Travel Relics – Missable
After taking the Armlock transporter, follow the left-most path upon entering the Laboratory Ruins. Don’t navigate toward the Save Point; continue along the left path and to the balcony. 31. An Out-of-Place Artifact
