Epic PlayStation RPG now pocket-sized
Square Enix has announced that one of the most loved RPGs of all time,Final Fantasy VIII, is now available on iOS and Android platforms in itsFFVIII Remasteredform. Fans can purchase the pint-sized adventure from their respective app store for the discounted price of $17, rising to $21 on April 4.
Originally released on PlayStation way back in 1999,Final Fantasy VIIIhas some mighty big shoes to fill, following in the amazing global popularity of its predecessor,Final Fantasy VII. Fortunately, thanks to its ornate world, stylish cast of characters, and wave of cool spells and summons, not forgetting – of course – the compelling “Triple Triad” card game,FF VIIIwas up to the challenge, and is thought by many today to be one of the very best entries in theFinal Fantasycanon.

Already available on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch,Final Fantasy VIII Remasteredadds a selection of “quality-of-life” tweaks to the classic adventure. Players can activate several levels of increased gameplay speed, toggle random battle encounters, and tweak combat levels in order to make fighting a breeze. These optional extras allow players to live Squall and Laguna’s mythic adventure once again, while foregoingFFVIII‘s challenging but satisfying gameplay.
Square Enix also warns players that an in-game bug can see characters get “trapped” in scenery while exiting vehicles. As such, the developer suggests that players save with regularity.
