Too many games?

[Update:GfKhas issued a statementthatInfinite Warfare‘s 65% drop is actually 55%, which is lower thanBlack Ops III‘s similar drop. Bethesda has yet to comment onDishonored.]

This year the movie business dealt with lower returns on sequels likeNow You See Me 2,Zoolander 2,Alice in Wonderland 2,Snow White and the Huntsman 2, andIndependence Day 2, and the game industry is suffering the same fate in some cases.

According to MCV,Dishonored 2‘s physical sales charted fourth in the UK, with a 38% decrease in sales compared to the first week of the original.Call of Dutyis still on top of course withInfinite Warfare, but its sales dropped 65% during week two, something Activision doesn’t seem to be too shaken by (they probably have at least two moreCall of Dutygames in the hopper already, so they’re committed).

In other UK sales newsTitanfall 2dropped to number eight on the chart whileBattlefield 1remains at a respectable number three after nearly a month in circulation. But not every AAA game is hurting, asStar Wars Battlefront, released nearly a year ago to this day, clocks in at number 10. EA is definitely riding high this year.
