Chesterwas already looking promising back inJanuary, but its developer Benn Friedrich has been hard at work over the last months.

The game will now feature at least five worlds, netting you about 50 levels with a mix of hand-drawn, 8-bit, Game & Watch, and other art styles. It will have over 10 unlockable characters that you can level up and use separate attacks with, and they’ll all control very differently. According to Friedrich, “insane boss fights” are also in!

To fund all that content, there is now aKickstarterforChesterwith a pretty humble target. The money will be used for things like art supplies and a working tablet so Friedrich can draw more art, the ability to get original music in the game, and some software packages to help development.

No official word on the final platform(s) of choice yet, but stay tuned for that.
