Squire! Bring me more rotoscoping!

I’ve never looked at a trailer that was almost entirely footage of a dude walking slowly across the screen and thought “Wow, that looks rad!” before, but hey, there’s a first time for everything.

MeetBannerman, a side-scrolling hack-and-slash by one-man developer Armitage Games. The game focuses on “brutal… skill-based melee combat” in a medieval world, which is another way of saying ‘Souls-ish’.It’s difficult to judge whether the combat will be good from a few brief scenes in a trailer, so instead, just enjoy how bloody good it all looks!

The pixel art medieval landscapes are gorgeous, the rotoscoped animation reminds me ofPrince of PersiaandAnother World, and the music brings the whole thing together perfectly.I’m a sucker for interesting animation styles, so I’m hopingBannermandoes well in itsGreenlight campaign.
