If the wind changes, you’ll stay like that

Indie developer Friend & Foe has announced that their abstract adventureVanewill launch on PC later this month. The platform puzzler, which released on PS4 at the start of the year, will glide onto the Steam platform July 23.

Vaneis a wordless adventure title that uses metaphor, sound and esoteric imagery to tell the story of a protagonist’s journey through a strange and desolate land. Beginning as a lone figure in an electrical storm, the lead goes on to become a raven soaring over desert sands, to a young child negotiating a subterranean tower, leading to a mysterious and unique climax.

Unfortunately, the PS4 release struggledwith a terrible save system, a sluggish pace, boring puzzles and a glut of game-breaking bugs, which undermine its intriguing concepts and excellent electronica soundtrack. While this PC release will hopefully take care of the myriad of technical issues, it’s likely the gameplay issues themselves will remain.
