It is currently sitting at zero positive reviews on Steam

Sacred 3wasn’t a very well received game; I felt it was an average and uninspired hack-‘n’-slash game with some terrible attempts at humor. Comments on my review either sided on “hey, it’s not too bad in co-op,” to “this is a stain on the franchise.” Well, at least one of the staff onSacred 3agrees with the latter sentiment and has written an apology on the Steam community page.

Junior designer Sascha Wagentrotzsays he feels sorry for the fans “that didn’t get the game that they wanted to have.” While he doesn’t specifically address any problems or any demands from the game’s publisher that may have led toSacred 3‘s issues, he does cite the developer/publisher push-and-pull relationship as a big factor.

“All I can say is, that you should not overestimate the power of a developer in a ‘work for hire’ constellation with a big publisher,” he wrote. Wagentrotz is no longer at Keen Games but it still takes some heart to publicly put yourself out there and say “We didn’t deliver.” I’d be interested in hearing some info a few months down the line as to whySacred 3went from being a fan favorite to an almost pariah.
