Play Left 4 Dead … in Silent Hill? Yep, there’s a mod

There’s probably something wrong with me for saying this, but I really relish the moments that I get to spend in Silent Hill. I look forward to going there. The reason for this is probably because I can go there safely within a videogame, but there’s something about that world I never get tired of. This Silent HillLeft 4 Deadmod is just up my alley, adding nice little touches like “invisible” witches (basically you see her eyes and she stands up and then disappears for extra creepy effect)....

Rockstar introduces ‘The Law’ of Red Dead Redemption

This latest trailer forRed Dead Redemption, entitled “The Law,” has me wondering — where’s the hype? While the game looks to match (and perhaps exceed) the quality of this generation’sGrand Theft Auto IV, it seems that the level of excitement just can’t match Rockstar’s open-world city title. I have to wonder why, though — by all accountsRedemptioncould be one of the best games released this year. Maybe it’s that people like cars more than horses, and rocket launchers more than six-shooters....

Smash Ultimate just got a very small update that adds support for upcoming amiibo

Dark Samus and Richter It’s safe to say that amiibo are very much a “hate it or love it” affair. You probably gave up in 2015. I don’t blame you! There’s still plenty of amiibo to go until the entireSmash Ultimateroster is complete, asnone of the DLC charactershave gotten figures yet. Yikes! Sony: Wii owns the closet, Sony owns the living room

SCEA bigwig Peter Dille has been giving the Blogocubea lot of mileagewith hisGamasutrainterview, coming up with plenty of quotes that can be extracted and screamed about without context. Here’s another one, with Dille offering a few stolen words from Jack Tretton and attempting to quantify the statement. “Yeah, I don’t want to steal [CEO] Jack [Tretton]’s quote, but he’s fond of saying: “Microsoft owns the office; Sony owns the living room; and Wii owns the closet....

Street Fighter V almost had a fighting politician in its roster

Senator Armstrong? Capcom seemingly isn’t out of wacky ideas yet, if these “cutting room floor” concepts are any indication. Speaking on the development ofStreet Fighter V, the publisher just released a ton of concept art for unused fighters, including a “Literary Master,” a “Fighting President,” a “Clumsy Cutie” (whose clothes fall off in battle, ha), “Miss Babo,” a Soccer Fighter” (which was deemed to close to Roberto from Rival Schools), “Gen’s Disciple,” “The Teacher,” and a “Prototype Shadaloo Soldier....

Don’t show up to the panel without coffee Even though we’ve kept up with Swery65in the years sinceD4: Dark Dreams Don’t DieandDeadly Premonition, it feels like it’s been far too long since we’ve been able to talk about an active, in-production game from the director. The latest entry in theTekkenseries went live last night, and I hopped on for a few rounds with friends myself—said pals were playing on PC, and I was on PlayStation 5. The Witness puzzle that’s vexing everyone [Update]

Again, puzzled [Update:Jonathan Blow answered our inquiry. Here’s what he had to say, edited slightly to omit anything that could be the most minor of spoilers: “Yes, I pretty much figured that one to be one of the hardest individual puzzles in the game. It was one of the early puzzles I designed, way back in 2009 even. A few puzzles in the game were sparked by ideas from other team members (for example, the pressure plate puzzles — designed by me but the idea came from a conversation with someone) and a small fraction were designed primarily by Orsi rather than me (I did the first three puzzles [spoiler location], but she wanted to make it bigger so she designed most of the rest and I gave feedback on them)....

This browser game simulates workplace tedium and soul-crushing, endless memos

Clock in, never leave Over here in the United States, most of us have off from work on Independence Day. It’s a National Holiday, after all, where people gather to grill meat, drink beer, and remember Bill Pullman’s iconic speech aboutkicking alien ass. It’s a lazy, relaxing day; a few hours where most people can escape the doldrums of a working life. It’s ironic then that I spent a notable percentage of my morning playing Pippin Barr’sIt Is As If You Were Doing Work....
