It is currently sitting at zero positive reviews on Steam Sacred 3wasn’t a very well received game; I felt it was an average and uninspired hack-‘n’-slash game with some terrible attempts at humor. Comments on my review either sided on “hey, it’s not too bad in co-op,” to “this is a stain on the franchise.” Well, at least one of the staff onSacred 3agrees with the latter sentiment and has written an apology on the Steam community page....

I’m just here for the walking fortresses I don’t always need the latest and greatest in video games. Sometimes good enough is, well, good enough. That’s my first-glance, subject-to-change read onCaravan Stories, a free-to-play MMORPG about the usual concepts: quelling darkness, assembling a cast of characters and creatures alike, and–what’s this?–a customizable magical fortress that acts as your roaming base of operations. Neat. Caravan Storieshas seen success in Japan with some two million players, and soon enough it’ll be available over here in the West....

Check out that soundtrack! Spliceis a puzzle game from Cipher Prime Studios which has you rearranging cellular strands to make specific structures. It’s been out on PC and mobile devices for a while now, but today it became available on PS3 and PS4, marking the studio’s first self-published console title. The game is launching at $14.99, with a 20% discount for PS Plus members. The PlayStation edition supports cross-buy, the PS4 Light Bar, and Sixaxis, and also features new achievements and sexier graphics....

Boom Tetris for Anthony! I’ve always loved watchingTetrismatches becauseTetrisis one of the only games I can arguably defend as perfect. So, when you have an arguably perfect game, it’s always amazing to see the best players in the world put their skills to the test. The concept is terrific, the designs are fantastic and the gameplay looks like it could be a lot of fun indeed....

A couple of weeks ago, it came to light that digital distributor Desura, and its indie bundle site Indie Royale, has beenfailing to pay developerson its platforms. Well, it looks like they might not be getting that money at all now, as the owner company Bad JuJu hasfiled for bankruptcy. Do whatever you want Breath of the Wildhas given me a whole new appreciation for open-world games. I love the amount of freedom you have in tackling the quest (or not bothering with it) and the order in which you can tackle it. While games likeGrand Theft Autoand the more recentElder Scrollsgames give you snippets of that, they tend to hold your hand throughout their main questlines, which inevitably makes the player want to rebel against the set path....

I suspect that there’s a pretty sizable chunk of people who would gladly call Metroidvania their favorite video game genre, but who have never played aMetroidgame. That’s a problem. Sometimes, when a classic istooclassical, it can become a bit of a headache. Revisiting a really beloved game can become a chore when you’ve seen its best ideas executed better by games that came later. Not so withMetroid. Nearly every 2DMetroidgame is still a great time, even when placed next to the wave of wonderful indie Metroidvanias we’ve seen recently....
