Early Access Review: Radical Heights

Gnarly I had the opportunity to visit Boss Key Productions’ studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I saw a lot of promise inLawBreakers.Cliff Blesziski’s still fledgling studio has a lot of power behind it, so much so that I was wowed by the raw talent of the art department in particular, among a mix of up and coming and seasoned developers. ButLawBreakersjust didn’t make an impact on the industry. Maybe it was the marketing, the pricepoint, the over-saturation of hero shooters, the timing, or the spread across three platforms for a brand new IP, but either way it’s basically a done deal now....

Elite: Dangerous 1.1 patch brings pilots together and enhances gameplay

Todd ‘Maniac’ Marshall, at your service, ma’am! Elite: Dangerouscontinues to mature with the latest 1.1 BETA update. The addition of Community Goals adds missions for groups of players to work towards, like destroyingxamount of enemies, or hauling a certain cargo to a destination. The success or failure of these goals will be felt in-universe as factions gain or lose strength accordingly. Elite: Dangerousis still very much a work in progress. However, Frontier Developments keeps expanding it towards their goal of a 1:1, living, breathing version of the Milky Way Galaxy....

Eyes-on with Gunnar’s Intercept Color collection

Deal with it Hey, who is that cool-looking mothertrucker over there in the blue-framed glasses? Oh, that’s me in a mirror, wearing Gunnar’s new Intercept Color Collection gaming eyewear. I went eyes-on at with these at CES this week, slipping them on my face after a hideously long day of staring at my computer, mobile devices, and countless demos on the show floor. It was about 11:00 p.m. when I tried them on, so my eyes were as dry as the desert....

Famitsu: PS Vita memory cards are a ‘requirement’

When a company sells an optional add-on to a product, one usually assumes that it is just that —optional. According toFamitsu, however, the PlayStation Vita’sexpensive memory cardsaren’t something you can just ignore, with some games refusing to even boot up without one inserted. Uncharted: Golden Abyssis one such game. It won’t work unless you drop mad bank for an extra memory card. Famitsu has stated that these cards are “pretty much a requirement” for anybody wanting to play on Sony’s new machine, which goes hand in hand withlast week’s newsthat game saves would be demanding them....

Here’s the latest way to region unlock your 3DS

Catch it before Nintendo does Last November, Nintendo talked a little aboutrethinking their policies of region locking. Seems like common sense to me. The gains they’d make in consumer goodwill by allowing a few games to more easily make it overseas would undoubtedly outweigh the losses. In the meantime, there are methods likeRegionthreeto get by the region locks on your 3DS right now. While I haven’t tested the method seen above, it’s reportedly legit....

Holy hell the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles 2 turns one year old, gets a new Smash-inspired costume

What a great game I’ve sung the praises ofXenoblade Chronicles 2for a long while now but it just dawned on me that I’ve been doing it for a year. Damn! The JRPG that could was great at launch but was made even greater through a series of free and paid DLC updates, on top of many quality of life changes and an entire (good) expansion. While the aforementionedTornaexpansion did close out development onXenoblade Chronicles 2as a whole, it seems like Monolith Soft aren’t completely done yet....
