Heroes of the Storm just got one of its biggest patches yet on PTR

Reworks, a new hero, and a new map One of the largest patches yet forHeroes of the Stormjust dropped in the PTR (public test realm), and it has a ton of new stuff in it. The major additions include a new hero (Alarak fromStarcraft) a new map (Braxis Holdout), and several reworks, including a complete re-tooling of Butcher and Valla. There are also a lot of little changes, like the fact that all classes and hero types count towards daily quests in unranked and ranked draft (preventing players from picking heroes they’re not good with to get a few hundred gold), better sorting options, a straight mount speed decrease by 10% (which should be a nice buff for Lunara and Dehaka, though Rehgar’s wolf mount got a slight nerf), and mercenary camp timer adjustments....

Impressions: Disney Infinity: Toy Story in Space Play Set

It’s not a laser! It’s a little light bulb that blinks One criticism that I’ve seen withDisney Infinityis that it’s too contemporary. At launch, we got three Pixar films, aPirates of the Caribbeanworld, and a Play Set for the brand newLone Rangerreboot. Although classic franchises likeAladdinandLittle Mermaidare lumped in with the free roaming Toy Box mode in the form of collectibles, a lot of people were left wanting more than just a Pixar game, which is a fair point....

Even an HD version of Day of the Tentacle Kotakutoo a look at how LucasArts fell apart, and among the information they dug up was details on several major projects the now defunct studio was working on. Magical ’80s adventure Wiz is this week’s Arcade Archives release

No sign of Diana Ross or Michael Jackson This week’s Arcade Archives release has me stumped, as Seibu Kaihatsu’sWiz– now available to download on PS4 and Nintendo Switch – is one of the few games to grace Hamster’s retro range that I’ve never encountered once in my extended life of coin-op classics. Released back in 1985,Wizis a side-scrolling adventure which sees players put on their wizard’s cloak and hat in order to journey through a selection of realms on a quest to face off against a ferocious dragon....

Mega64’s Stanley Parable video is about guys who aren’t Stanley

Anything to hear that narrator’s voice again Mega64’s latest video is about one of my favorite interactive experiences from last year,The Stanley Parable. But, these people look confused. Maybe they don’t share my enthusiasm for it. Alternatively, maybe they’re confused because not a single one of these people is Stanley. Without Stanley, the name “The Stanley Parable” doesn’t make much sense, does it? It could beThe John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt Parablefor all we know....

Metal Gear Solid V pre-TGS tease: Quiet jumps from a helicopter, goes invisible

The Phantom Pain’s resident raccoon …And that’s it. Well, there are some angry raccoon eyes at the end, too. Wait. Clearly the soldiers see the helicopter above them. And Quiet doesn’t even turn invisible until she’s mid-fall. Why even turn invisible at that point? To show off? It’s like a needlessly flashy version of theGhost in the Shellintro, which I would link except that it has boobs and also I can only find theGhost in the Shell 2....

Microsoft to release a two-tone controller in October

Taking a cue from Vicarious Visions and their recent releaseMarvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Microsoft is fusing two things together that should never be: the colors red and black (on the flipside, think Venom and Iron Man). The above is a wretchedly glossy wireless controller slated to hit retail on October 15, to be exact. The peripheral comes with a Plug and Play adapter andpossiblya rechargeable battery. Microsoft didn’t announce this thing (wonder why), so we’re a tad unsure of what the total bundle is....

NieR: Automata on Switch ought to have come earlier but it’s nearly perfect

It’s fun 2B fashionably late NieR: Automatawas first released in 2017, just close enough to the Switch launch date that it could have helped define the console’s larger identity. It’s definitely a “Style over Horsepower” game, and did little to tax the hardware of the now last-gen PS4. It’s also developed by PlatinumGames, who’ve done a lot to build their audience on Nintendo consoles in recent years. BetweenThe Wonderful 101, the fullBayonettafranchise, andAstral Chain, the Switch is where the bulk of their character action games live now....

Shiver me timbers Nintendo has won a UK-based court case that effectively forces several ISPs in Britain to ban access to websites that facilitate piracy on Nintendo Switch. Speaking with Eurogamer, a Nintendo spokesperson related the company’s satisfaction with the outcome. “Today, the UK High Court found the sale and distribution of ‘circumvention’ devices for the Nintendo Switch unlawful....
