Super Mario World takes the crown Celebrating classics isn’t always about commemorating selfish nostalgia. To that end, Nintendo just recently published the top 25 downloaded SNES/Super Famicom games on the 3DS Virtual Console in Japan, and although the top few are what you’d expect, there are some interesting winners in there....

Activision Blizzard has got your back, as long as you’re a PC player.Available on Battle.net, a $40 “Battle Edition” of the game will get you up and running in traditional multiplayer and “Blackout” mode. It is currently on sale for $30 until June 26, 2025. The website reads, “TheBlack Ops 4Battle Edition offers the full Multiplayer and Blackout experiences and is compatible with all existing copies and online lobbies for those modes on PC....

New ventures for the Bayonetta squad Platinum Games are planning to self-publish two undisclosed titles in the future. These games, though relatively large in budget, won’t quite reach the AAA-esque levels of some of the studio’s more famous titles, such asBayonettaorNieR: Automata. Speaking withGameInformer, Platinum’s head of development Atsushi Inaba has spoken of the balance the studio is trying to find between Indie-level productions and big-budget, big publisher titles. “We can’t put together a AAA, $10 million-plus game, because we just don’t have that sort of cash as an independent developer,” said Inaba....

Even 6 is worth getting for Mercs Capcom reports that the PS4 and Xbox One re-releases ofResident Evil 4,5, and6have collectively shipped 1.5 million units worldwide. That’s “shipped,” not “sold,” but still an impressive number given that these are basically just re-packaged editions with the DLC included — and that4has been re-released already more times that anyone can keep track of. This adds to Capcom’s near 70 million total sold for the entire series, which makes it their best-performing franchise to date....

Arcade cabinets have a lot of strikes against them. They take up a lot of space, for starters. And, with a few exceptions like the Neo-Geo multi-slot boards, cabinets only offer one game. So, if you’re an arcade owner, the profitability of your machines over the rent you’re paying for its square footage can be pretty dicey even before you consider how prevalent home console gaming has become. Running the Oculus Rift requires a decent rig, which isn’t something that everyone who wants VR necessarily has. Life’s a brawl in Override In the upcomingmultiplayer 3D brawlerOverride: Mech City Brawl, there’s a co-op party mode in which you and up to three friends can all pilot the same giant robot, with each player in charge of a specific part of the mech. That’s not even the main game mode and I’m already down to play. WhenOverridereleases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this December, it’ll pit mechs against each other in real-world locations like Tokyo, Egypt, and San Francisco....
