Microsoft made a Sonic movie Xbox One console, this is not a joke

It was revealed last night before April Fools TheSonic the Hedgehogmovieis out digitally following a stint in theaters, where it beat the coronavirus drought and managed to score $306 million at the box office, well over its estimated $80-95 million budget with plenty of room to factor in marketing costs. It was a rip-roaring success with families, and now the movie Sonic (well not that movie Sonic, the new/fixed one) is coming home to roost: literally, in your home, as an Xbox One....

‘The first time he (or she) makes their fighting game debut’ We already knew that Mega Man and Asura were shot down as the fifth secret character inUltra Street Fighter IV, but now we have more information to clarify the situation a bit — this new character has never been in a fighting game before…ever. Capcom’sDavid Hinds also confirmsthat the character is “very much related toStreet Fighter.” While this rules out Batsu (or any perfect-fitRivals Schoolscharacters), on the other hand, I’m excited to see who exactly this mystery fighter is....

MoviePass gives ‘the whiners’ back their one movie a day

Let’s not forget that MoviePass first created the $9.95/mo. plan on June 18, 2025, not even nine months ago! Their membership numbers soared, passing two million, and then their CEO, and public relations specialist, Mitch Lowe, started bragging to anyone who’d listen that not only was MoviePass using member cell phones to track their GPS activity, including driving habits, but they were selling member data at bargain rates. Paging Cambridge Analytica, paging Cambridge Analytica...

Nintendo slam mod chips: Europe probably not racked with guilt

Nintendo have never been shy when it comes to stomping down the heavy boot of litigation. In fact they’veoften given the impressionthat they only make these video games they put out to fill the quiet times in between suings. It’s strange then, that while other companies have been rabidlyhounding the importmarket as if it killed their parents, and treating the scourge of modding as if ’twere the very Black Death, Nintendo have been fairly quiet on such matters recently....

Nothing is Sacred: Cute characters suck

Take a look at the lineup of four characters above. If you could choose three of them to be in your party based on looks alone, who would you choose? The spiky haired silent hero? The bulky, muscular bad ass? The waif female who is probably a white magic user? Sure you would. As cookie cutter as they are, characters like these are almost always seen as great assets to one’s team, no questions asked....

Podtoid 30: Yet another one is released edition!

Courtesy of Destructoid.com and well, me, here’s the latest episode of Podtoid, #30! The cast this week is the same as it was last week (seeing a pattern here?): Leigh Alexander——————-Ironforge Aaron Linde————————Stormwind We discussed many things, insulted a lot of people (yeah, I’m going to get letters) and made some jokes that probably would have been edited out under the previous rules. For those who haven’t figured it out yet, I don’t censor anything, so if you have thin skin — that you habitually cover with faux fox costumes — you’re probably going to be upset with episode 30....

Portal 2’s co-op mode has its own credits

Speaking to VideoGamer, Valve writer Chet Faliszek revealed thatPortal 2will feature two closing sequences — one for the single-player campaign, naturally, and another for the game’s separate cooperative mode. “Both sets of credits [will feature something special], because we’ve got two credits. So we had to do something twice as amazing,” he says. Usually, this wouldn’t be such a big deal. Such is the power of Valve afterPortal‘s ending song and the impact it had on geek culture....

Review: Space Pirate Trainer

See why VR is so special Last year, when the arrival of retail VR headsets was still a pipe dream of the distant future, one of my biggest questions for the tech is how it would impact game design going forward. Would games have to fundamentally change how they are designed and played to work with the new tech.Space Pirate Trainerdemonstrates that in many key regards games do have to change for VR, particularly when room tracking and motion controllers are involved....

Sega’s April Fools’ joke is a playable Big the Cat browser game

Haha well played Sega has been aggressively marketing with their “weird” and “that’s so random!” angle for the past year, but this time I’m actually on board with it. For April Fools’, they’ve released a Big the Cat game calledBig’s Big Fishing Adventure 3, which has a “so bad it’s good” feel to it. At the start Sega notes that they want the game to be played with a retro controller, but a keyboard will do fine for now, and so on....

South Park: The Fractured but Whole’s big fancy edition has a Cartman RC car

RC trike, really The kids of South Park don’t have a lot of great options for transportation. They can ride the school bus, but that driver’s mean as all hell. They could have their parents taxi them around, but that’s totally lame. Or, in the case of Cartman, they can ride their big wheel trikes. That’s the Cartman that graces the centerpiece ofSouth Park: The Fractured but Whole‘s most expensive edition (thus far, anyway)....
